All members of the Prison Law Team have a strong background in criminal work and are committed to providing an excellent service to clients who become convicted and sentenced to periods of custody.
Given that there is no professional accreditation for prison lawyers, individuals often have little information upon which to make decisions about choice of representation. Firms of criminal solicitors who do not have a dedicated prison law department often send their work to competing firms, thereby potentially losing the subsequent criminal work that such clients tend to generate.
The Prison Law Team at Peel Court is equipped to cater for the needs of lay clients and a range of solicitors’ firms, enabling their clients in custody to be represented by experienced advocates, and the firm to retain its future work and reputation in providing clients with the best services available.
The team undertakes a full range of prison law, including representation at adjudications, parole board hearings, and High Court applications for judicial review arising from a range of prison law issues (including categorisation, timing of parole board hearings, licence conditions). Written advice is provided across the prison law spectrum.
