Areas of Practice
Paul Murphy practices in all aspects of criminal law but also undertakes civil cases in general common law and regulatory work.

He has extensive experience in the Crown Court and has appeared at the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division) on a number of occasions.He undertakes work for both defence and prosecution and has been junior barrister for the prosecution in several complex cases, namely;

‘Operation Tobago’, a lengthy conspiracy to supply crack cocaine covering a period of twelve months and involving 18 defendants.

R v Monaghan, a complex murder where diminished responsibility and intention were primary issues.

‘Operation Piranha’, football violent disorder involving 13 defendants.

R v Lytollis, historic rape and abuse of 6 children over a period of 15 years.

He has represented defendants for a range of charges but has extensive experience in dealing with assault charges, conspiracy to supply drugs, possession of firearms, robbery and associated theft offences.In relation to his civil law and regulatory practice he has experience in fast track trials for both personal injury and contract cases. He has also undertaken a variety of work for local authorities and councils in the areas of health and safety and trademark infringement. He also has undertaken a number of cases for Customs and Excise regarding the importation and seizure of illegally imported goods.
