Profile

Sharon Leene is a criminal practitioner. She defends and prosecutes in all areas of crime. She has defended in cases of serious crime including murder, kidnapping, false imprisonment, robbery, GBH, blackmail, fraud and the importation and supply of drugs. She has been involved in a number of multi-handed cases both as a junior alone, and being led. She acted as a facilitator for the Bar Council’s Human Rights Courses and worked on their Law Reform Committee. She was a member of the CBA’s working parties who prepared responses to the Government’s proposals for changes in the law on involuntary manslaughter and double jeopardy.

Areas of Practice

Crime including: serious violence, human rights, drugs and fraud work and the associated areas including confiscation proceedings and abuse of process arguments.

Advised pro bono in an appeal against a double murder conviction for which leave to appeal was granted 6 years out of time.
