David Temkin

 

 

After graduating from Oxford University, David Temkin spent two years as a schoolteacher before turning to the Bar in 2000 and has been a member of Peel Court since the completion of his pupillage in chambers.

He has a mixed practice.

Criminal Work


David prosecutes and defends in equal measure. He is a Grade 3 CPS Advocate and in 2006 was appointed to the Attorney-General’s Unified List of Prosecutors. He is regularly instructed by the Revenue and Customs Prosecutions Office. He has also prosecuted on behalf of the Information Commission.

 

His criminal defence work is particularly varied. He has wide experience in cases involving dishonesty, violence, drugs and sex. He was Junior Counsel in a conspiracy to murder trial at Manchester Crown Court (2003), in an £11.8 million diversion fraud trial at Maidstone Crown Court (2005), in a multi-handed money laundering trial at Croydon Crown Court (2007) and in multi-handed murder trial at Manchester Crown Court (2007). This year (2008), David was Junior Counsel in a multi-handed rape case at Bolton Crown Court.
 

Civil Work
 

David has a varied general common law practice with particular emphasis on Personal Injury. His experience includes accidents at work and public liability cases. He has conducted a range of interlocutory and final hearings in the fast track.

 

David also practices Licensing Law and has a developing interest in Employment Law. 

He has appeared in disciplinary tribunals including the General Medical Council and Courts Martial.

 

Wider Responsibilities 

David teaches Advocacy on the Bar Vocational Course at Manchester Metropolitan University. He also delivers courses around the country to medical expert witnesses. He deals with such topics as mental health law, criminal procedure, report writing and presentation skills. 

David was Junior of the Northern Circuit in 2003.
